Yellow weather warning for storm issued for Sunday

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday for storms, hail and snow expected throughout Sunday.

The warning will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to begin in western and northern areas before affecting the entire island.

Hail may accompany thunderstorms, while sleet or snow is expected on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains.

The intensity of rainfall during storms is expected to range between 35 and 50 millimetres per hour, prompting the Department of Meteorology to issue the yellow-level danger alert.
