Two youngsters aged 19 and 17 arrested in drug operation on Kyrenia

Two teenagers were arrested in a drug operation carried out by the police in Kyrenia.

The suspects identified as AG, 19 and YAP, 17 were brought to court on Sunday April 6 on charges of Unlawful Receiving, Giving and Possession of Drugs (Cannabis and Cocaine).

According to police statement, the police at around 22:00, on Saturday April 5 carried out a search on the vehicle used by the suspects which was stopped by Traffic Teams for control purposes within the scope of Public Order and Traffic Controls on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard.

During the search, a total of 21 grams of what is believed to be cocaine and 18 grams of what is believed to be cannabis, as well as a precision scale believed to have drug residue on it, were found in the vehicle and taken as evidence.

The police stated that on the same day, during the investigation conducted by a police team from the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Department, a substance believed to be cannabis-type drugs weighing approximately 140 grams, wrapped in aluminum foil and ready for sale in a bag kept under a tree in a place he used as a stash in the mountainous area of ​​Karmi village, was found and taken as evidence. The police stated that the suspect AG admitted his crime.

The police stated that the seized evidence would be sent for analysis, that they were wanted persons and that the suspects' mobile phones should be examined, and requested an additional 3 days of detention.
