Two in custody for assault

Two individuals accused of assaulting a person with a club in Gönyeli, will remain in custody for two more days.

The suspects İN and HA were arrested and brought to court on Wednesday April 2 for causing grievous bodily harm.

According to the police, the incident happened on the night of Tuesday April 1, 2025, on Şht. Caner Gönyeli Street in Gönyeli, when the suspects allegedly assaulted one AAA without any apparent reason. They reportedly struck him randomly with clubs, causing multiple injuries, including a spinal fracture. The police confirmed that both suspects were arrested on the same day.

The police stated that the victim identified the suspects at the police station. He also emphasized that the investigation was still in its early stages, requiring further review of security camera footage, additional witness statements, and the pursuit of two more individuals involved in the incident.

The police noted that analyzing the footage might reveal further offenses and that the suspects had made verbal statements that needed to be investigated. In light of these factors, the police requested an additional two-day detention period.
