Two foreigners charged with stealing T-shirts from a market

In a theft incident that took place in Lefkosa over the weekend, two individuals were charged and brought before the court for allegedly stealing four t-shirts.

The suspects AAS and YD, both Moroccan nationals, were brought before the court after being arrested for theft that occurred in Lefkosia.

Testifying in court, police officer stated that on April 11, at around 10:30 a.m., the suspects, acting as customers at the clothing section on the first floor of a store named Jumbo Bazar located on Özker Özgür Street, stole four t-shirts—three black and one white—of an undetermined brand, with a total value of 1,396 TL. The suspects exited the store without paying for the items.

Following a complaint by the store, police reviewed the store’s security camera footage and identified the suspects, who were later arrested in Lefkosia. During a search of their residence, police recovered three of the stolen t-shirts, which were seized as evidence.

The officer noted that statements were still to be taken, one item was still missing, and the review of the security footage was ongoing. He requested that the suspects be remanded in custody for two days.

The judge who evaluated the testimony and ordered that the suspects remain in custody for two days as part of the ongoing investigation.
