Turkish Cypriot Teachers Unions, Civil socities and political parties hits the streets of north Cyprus to
The Cyprus Turkish Teachers' Union (KTÖS) and the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS), with the support of around 75 civil society organizations and political parties took to the streets of north Cyprus in their numbers to demonstration against the government's school policy .
Organized on the grounds that secular education and the structure of society are under threat, the protest saw groups gathering around 6:00 PM at the location known as the Citroen Traffic Lights on Dereboyu, and they began marching towards the Martyrs' Monument.
During the protest, banners were displayed with slogans such as “Beauty Cannot Be Forced, No to Imposition,” “Every Child is an Individual, They Have Their Own Voice, Don’t Touch Their Free Will,” “Don’t Touch My Education, My Lifestyle, My Belief, My Culture,” and “We Will Not Compromise on a Secular, Modern Social Structure.” Participants marched towards the Martyrs' Monument chanting slogans like “Unity, Struggle, Solidarity” and “We Are Not Afraid, We Will Not Be Silent, We Do Not Obey.”
