Student arrested for assaulting roommate in Lefke

A student resident in Lefke, north Cyprus has been charged with assault after allegedly assaulting his roommate physically during an argument over a debt dispute.

The incident happened in Lefke on the evening of Saturday April 19 when the suspect RY who got into an argument with his roommate identified as İ.Ö. due to a financial disagreement, headbutted İ.Ö., causing his nose.

The suspect RY was arrested and brought to court on Sunday for inflicting serious harm on his roommate.

The police said the assault was intentional and that RY severely assaulted İ.Ö. by striking various parts of his body with his hands.

The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, that statements still need to be taken, and that the suspect’s claims must be verified or refuted. The police requested that the suspect be held in police custody for an initial period of two days.
