Shocking images showed two thieves trying to open parked vehicles in Yenikent

Two suspects were caught on security cameras as they walked through the streets of Yenikent, checking the doors of parked cars one by one.

The incident that happened in Lefkoşa’s Gönyeli-Yenikent area sparked outrage after being caught on security cameras. Footage shows two unidentified men roaming the streets late at night, systematically checking the doors of parked vehicles.

The video clearly reveals the suspects' intent to steal if they found any unlocked cars. Their actions suggest a calculated approach, and in some cases, they were seen being extra cautious — likely to avoid triggering alarm systems.

The footage serves as a stark reminder to the public about the importance of securing their vehicles, especially during the night.

After the incident came to the attention of the police, the Crime Prevention Branch of the Lefkosa Police Department and the Gönyeli Police Station teams carried out a large-scale investigation and arrested four suspects SD (E-24), CY (E-20), ZD (E-25) and GK (K-20), who were considered suspects in the incident.

In the further investigation and interrogation of the suspects, it was determined that on April 17, 2025, they stole a make-up bag containing 1000 Euros and 500 TL cash and various make-up products from a vehicle parked on 29 Ekim Street in Yenikent, and today, they attempted to open the doors of some vehicles parked in the Gönyeli Yenikent Levent Apartments area for the purpose of theft.

The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
