Man steals over 29,000 Turkish Lira from a parked vehicle in Guzelyurt

An individual was detained by the police for stealing huge sum of money from a parked vehicle in Guzelyurt.

The suspect identified as HY was arrested and brought to court on Sunday April 6 charged with “car theft”.

Testifying in court, the police reported that the suspect HY had stolen a total of 29,600 TL in cash, which was kept in the center console storage compartment of the vehicle belonging to one FPB (K-36) that was parked unlocked in Güzelyurt between 17:00 and 06:30 between April 3, 2025 and April 4, 2025.

During the search conducted at the residence of the suspect in Güzelyurt on the same day with a court order, the blue jacket he was wearing, the red beret he was wearing and the drag brand mountain bike he was using were found and seized as evidence.

The police stated that the suspect was arrested and that the statements he made to the police within the scope of the investigation would be confirmed and refuted.

The police said that there was money that was wanted and still could not be found, and requested that the suspect be detained at the police station for 3 days in order for the investigation to be carried out safely.

Speaking after the police testimony, the suspect said, “The police took me from my house. I was drunk. I did not commit this crime. The police suggested that I give a statement. I gave a statement but I did not do it. I have no objection to being arrested. Let them look, let them do it.”

The judge ordered the suspect to be detained in police custody for three days for investigation purposes.
