Man caught with a gun and 24 bullets hidden in a microwave

A individual who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and bullets hidden inside a microwave oven at his home, confessed to the crime.

The suspect AKB was arrested on April 4 and charged with "Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Explosives.

Police stated that during a search his residence on April 4 around 08:45, a Sigsauer brand 7.65 mm pistol (with no identifiable serial number) and 24 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition were found concealed inside a Samsung-brand microwave oven in the kitchen.

The suspect was arrested on the spot. Over a six-day detention period—granted across two court sessions—ballistic analysis was completed.

According to the police, the suspect voluntarily confessed to acquiring the weapon during a trip to Turkey in 2024 and smuggling it into the country via the Kyrenia Tourism Port. Immigration records confirmed his presence in Turkey during that time.

With the investigation now complete, the police requested that the suspect be released on bail.

After reviewing the evidence, the judge released him on bail on the condition that he is banned from traveling abroad, report to the nearest police station once a week, pay a cash bail fee of 65,000 TL, bring one guarantor to sign a surety bond of 500,000 TL.
