Chef detained for threatening a delivery worker with a knife
An individual who tried to attack a delivery worker with a knife for allegedly swearing at him, was sent to prison.
The suspect, identified as Chef YUÖ, a Turkish national was brought to court on Wednesday April 2 on charges of "Carrying a Weapon for Intimidation" and "Unlawful Possession of a Knife."
According to the police, on March 31, 2025, at around 8:00 PM, in the kitchen of a business named Sohra Çorba, located on Mehmet Akif Avenue in Lefkoşa, the suspect who unlawfully possessed a sharp-pointed knife with a 19 cm blade and a total length of 32 cm allegedly brandished the knife within striking distance of one M.A. in an attempt to intimidate him.
The police confirmed that the knife was found inside the establishment and seized as evidence.
The suspect was taken into custody, and an investigation was initiated. On April 1, 2025, he was brought before the Lefkoşa District Court, where a one-day detention order was issued against him.
During this period, security camera footage was examined, confirming that the suspect was seen brandishing the knife.
The police also noted that the suspect was residing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) under tourist status and requested that he be remanded in custody for a period not exceeding 15 days until his trial.
