Zimbabwean student dies from injuries sustained in traffic accident in northern Cyprus

A 29-year-old student who was involved in a traffic accident in the early hours of Saturday morning and have been receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa passed away on Thursday.

The deceased Walter Tawanda Chari, a Zimbabwean student in north Cyprus was seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred on the Küçük Erenköy - Tatlısu Main Road at around 12.30 am on Saturday March 23, 2025.

Chari, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by 27-year-old Christopher Stefan Sutton, was taken into intensive care after the accident.

However, despite all the interventions, he died on Thursday March 27, 2025.

The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Stefan Sutton, is still under police surveillance as part of the investigation into the accident, and that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
