Two caught with drugs in Lefkosa
Two individuals were arrested and detained by Turkish Cypriot police on Saturday after they were caught with drugs in Lefkosa.
The suspects identified only as YE and KBI, were arrested in an operation tagged 'Clamp' operation' carried out in Lefkosa on Saturday March 22.
They were brought to court on Sunday on drug charges.
The Police said that action was taken upon information received by the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate on March 22, 2025 about the incident.
During the search of the residences of the suspects, who were identified as a result of an operation carried out by the Lefkosia and Kyrenia teams in Lefkosa at around 12:00 pm on Saturday, a total of 300 grams of cannabis (Skunk) and 2 grams of cocaine were found and taken as evidence.
The police stated that the suspects were arrested with force and an investigation was launched.
The police stated that the seized substances would be sent for analysis, that statements would be taken and that there might be people or persons thought to be connected to who they got the drugs from and how they got them would be investigated, and requested that the suspects be detained for 3 days.
