Student arrested for drug causes trouble in cell
A foreign national who was arrested for drugs and brought to court in Lefkosa on Wednesday reportedly created trouble in the police cell and caused disturbance in court while under heavy police escort.
The suspect identified as A.K.O., 36 was arrested on Tuesday March 25 in Lefkosa for causing disturbance and creating trouble in the police cell after he was found with a small amount of drugs in his home.
He was brought to court on Wednesday under heavy police escort while in handcuff due to his aggressive behavior.
During the hearing, four police officers stood by the suspect while a police officer from the Lefkoşa police department presented the facts to the court.
The police stated that on March 25, 2025, during a search of the suspect’s residence in an apartment on Yusuf İzzet Street in Lefkoşa, a grinder believed to contain cannabis residue was found on a coffee table in the living room, along with a partially smoked hand-rolled cigarette suspected of containing drug residue. These items were taken as evidence.
The police reported that the suspect was arrested on the spot and that the investigation is ongoing.
They stated that the evidence would be sent for analysis, and further statements and CCTV footage needed to be examined. Therefore, they requested an additional two days for detention.
During the hearing, the suspect displayed tense behavior, claiming he had told the police everything and that he was alone in the country.
