Man wanted for cell phone theft since 2024 caught with drugs in Lefkosa

An individual who was wanted in connection with a cell phone theft at a gas station in Girne in October 2024, was arrested in Lefkoşa with drugs.

The suspect named only as ED was brought to court on Saturday.

The police stated that the suspect who was wanted for a cell phone theft on October 2, 2024, was identified by the Crime Prevention police in Lefkoşa.

The police reported to the court that during searches of the suspect's bag and his hotel room, approximately 5 grams of cannabis, 2 grams of cannabis mixed with tobacco, a pill believed to contain drugs, a half-smoked joint suspected to contain cannabis mixed with tobacco, and a precision scale believed to have drug residues were found.

The officer also mentioned that 8,125 TL and 20 Euros in cash, suspected to have been obtained from drug sales, were seized as evidence.

The police stated that the suspect had voluntarily confessed, admitting that he obtained 7 grams of drugs from a wanted individual on February 24 and drug pills from another wanted person a week ago.

The officer requested an additional three days of detention, stating that the suspect’s voluntary confession would be investigated and that he was still a wanted individual.
