Double tragedy as two die in separate accidents in north Cyprus
The first accident involves a 59-year-old businessman Hayati Özok who lost control of his vehicle while driving on Osman Örek Street in Girne Bellapais, crashing into the sidewalk and a stone wall. Özok died at the scene, while his two sons, who were in the vehicle, were seriously injured.
The second accident occurred at the Kırmızı Kaya area in Kilitkaya, when 64-year-old Mehmet Luman who was driving in Kırmızı Kaya Locality in Kilitkaya lost control of his vehicle, skidded into a field and hit an olive tree. He died at the scene.
According to information provided by the police press office, at around 13:45 today, businessman Hayati Özok (M-59) lost control of an unregistered vehicle while driving west on Osman Örek Street in Bellapais, Girne. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road, hitting the sidewalk before crashing into the wall of a house. As a result of the accident, the driver, Hayati Özok, lost his life at the scene. His sons, Ada Özok (M-15) and Deniz Özok (M-15), who were passengers in the vehicle, were seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia.The second accident happened at around 16:00 today, on an unnamed dirt road in the Kırmızı Kaya area of Kilitkaya, when Mehmet Luman (M-64) lost control of his pickup truck while driving eastward. Due to inattention, he failed to navigate a right-bending curve, veering off the left side of the road and crashing into an olive tree in a nearby field.
As a result of the accident, the driver, Mehmet Luman, lost his life at the scene. Gülten Luman (F-64), who was a passenger in the vehicle, was injured and is currently receiving treatment at Gazimağusa State Hospital.
The police investigation into the incidenta is ongoing.
