Woman arrested for living in north Cyprus without a permit for almost 6 years: Soon to be deported

A woman who was found to had been residing in north Cyprus without permit for almost 6 years was identified and arrested during police response to a noise complaint.

The suspect identified as G.S, 25, from India was identified and arrested at around 5:00 pm on Saturday February 8, 2025 following a police response to a noise complaint from an apartment on Yağmurlu Street in Küçük Kaymaklı, Lefkosa.

She was brought to court on Sunday charged with illegal residency in north Cyprus.

Police said during immigration check carried out on her, it was determined that she had been staying in the TRNC without a residence permit for 2,075 days since June 5, 2019.

The police announced that deportation procedures would begin against the suspect, requesting an additional 3-day detention period.
