Two men on drug overdose found sleeping in a car in the middle of a road in north Cyprus

Two individuals, a driver and a passenger were found unconscious in a vehicle which was immobilized in the middle of a busy major road in North Cyprus.

According to report, the two individuals were found unconscious in the vehicle that caused a traffic jam on the Lefkosia-Famagusta main road.

Following public reaction to the footage that was published on social media on Feb. 12, the driver of the vehicle, S.K., 29 and the passenger, C.A., 50 were identified and arrested.

The suspect CA was detected in Gönyeli on Feb. 13, and during a search of the vehicle, white paper pieces believed to contain synthetic cannabinoid type drugs weighing approximately 100 mlgr, 1 pair of scissors believed to have drug residue on them and 3 straws believed to have drug residue inside them were found and taken as evidence.

The suspect S.K. was caught while attempting to leave through Ercan Airport on Feb. 14.

Police said that they bought drugs by paying 500 TL per person and that they were driving under the influence of drugs on the day of the incident. The police said that SK drove the car for a while, and when he passed out, CA started driving, but he could not drive the car because of the drugs and they were stranded on the road.

The police stated that the suspects were woken up by the person who was filming them, and that the suspects drove away from the scene after they woke up. They also stated that they would take action regarding their driver's licenses in order to protect both the suspects and the people on the road, and that they had therefore contacted the traffic department.

Noting that the suspect SK gave blood and urine samples, that these samples, the seized substance, the pipette and the scissors would be sent for analysis.
