Two arrested for illegal residency in north Cyprus: Suspects asked to be deported

During a check in Lefkosia, it was determined that two individuals had been living in north Cyprus illegally without a resident permit.

The individuals, PCA, a Nigerian and FLT, a Cameroonian were identified and arrested by the police on Monday February 3 in Lefkosa.

They were brought to court on Tuesday on charges of illegally residing in north Cyprus whiteout permit.

Police said the suspect PCA was arrested at around 10:00 pm on Monday by a police team in the Göçmenköy area of Lefkosia. During immigration check, it was determined that PCA had been residing illegally in the TRNC for a total of 1,139 days, since December 22, 2021.

The police officer further explained that FLT who was found around 9:00 PM on the same day in the Küçük Kaymaklı area.had been residing illegally for a total of 432 days since September 30, 2023.

The police mentioned that the investigation was just beginning and that statements needed to be taken and correspondence had to be made. They requested that the suspects be held in custody for 3 days.

The suspects, speaking in court, expressed their desire to return to their home countries as soon as possible.

The judge ordered that the suspects be held in custody for 3 days.
