Suspect arrested for donkey massacre in north Cyprus threatens to sh**t journalist

One of four suspects arrested by Turkish Cypriot police in connection with the brutal killing of 16 donkeys in Dikarpaz, North Cyprus threatens to shoot any journalists who shares his image.

The 4 suspects who were arrested on Tuesday as part of investigation into the killing of 16 free donkeys with a hunting rifle in Dipkarpaz were brought before the İskele District Court today.

The investigating police, who relayed the facts in court, said that a search was carried out on February 25 at the homes of 14 people who were identified as owners of hunting rifles within the scope of the investigation.

Police stated that during the searches, cartridges similar to the ones used in the incident were found, and that for this reason, the suspects DD and UD were arrested.

Two other suspects, TK, whose registered rifle was missing its barrel, and ED, who had a gun he could not present to the police, were also detained.

Police stated that the barrel of the gun used in the incident has not yet been found and that a definitive conclusion can be reached if this part is seized. They also emphasized that the suspects' phones were taken as evidence and that the investigation is ongoing.

One of the suspects, ED, a Dipkarpaz Municipality Council Member, turned to the members of the press who were following the hearing and threatened them by saying, "I hope you publish my photos with my face uncovered, and I will find each and every one of you."

The lawyers of three of the suspects objected to the police's request for additional detention. The court reconvened at 1:30 pm after a break and ruled for an additional two days of detention, taking into account the ongoing police investigation.
