Seismic activity in the Aegean Sea has no impact on Cyprus
The seismic activity that have been active in the Aegean Sea has been causing concern especially on Greek islands, but also on Mediterranean islands.
It is a matter of curiosity whether the seismic activity in the Aegean affects the faults in the Mediterranean.
Speaking to BRT, the Turkish Cypriot government broadcaster, the Director of the Department of Geology and Mining Ayşen Albayrak said that the activity in the Aegean Sea will not have any effect on Cyprus.
Albayrak also stated that the earthquakes in the Aegean are entirely caused by the live volcano in the region.
She said that the data to be collected at the Earthquake monitoring and Evaluation Center, which will be established in Lefkoşa in the near future, will be instantly reflected on the monitoring screens and earthquake solutions will be made.
