Prices of food are increasing in North Cyprus

Prices of commodities has increased in north Cyprus according to a research carried out by local media, YENİDÜZEN.

The recent minimum wage announced by the north Cyprus government was met with an instant increase in milk, eggs, chicken and domestic gas.

According YENİDÜZEN who went to the market and examined 23 items in the shopping basket, in 6 months, 14 out of 23 items in the shopping basket increased, while 5 of them were found to be discounted. The price of meat and bread remained constant.

Oil, pasta, coffee, cheese, yogurt, eggs, flour, sugar bif, domestos, liquid soap, chicken, milk, coke increased in 6 months; coffee increased by 55.65 percent.

With an increase of 31.28 per cent, 1 liter of oil was placed in second place, yogurt ranked third with an increase of 18 percent, chicken ranked fourth with 12.92 percent and the egg ranked fifth with an increase of 5 percent.

The price of 14 out of 22 items in YENİDÜZEN’s shopping cart has risen in 6 months.

Oil, pasta, coffee, cheese, yogurt, eggs, flour, sugar bif, domestos, liquid soap, chicken, milk, coke increased in 6 months; coffee increased by 55.65 percent.

Turkish coffee was sold in August 2024 for $53.90, and in February 2025, this number increased by 55.65 per cent to TRY 83.90.

Coffee was the most high-profile product in the products in YENİDÜZEN’s shopping basket.

According to this, in August 2024, the rice campaign, which was 101.99 TL, entered the campaign and became 84.90 TL. Softeners reduced from TRY 129.99 to 100 TL, salt from 30 TL to 29 TL, shampoo from 153.9 TL to 134.90 TL, and 24 toilet paper from 219.90 TL to 209.90 TL.

In August 2024, the price of lamb skewer, which was 649.90 TL, and the price of lamb skewer, which was TL 949.90, did not change in 6 months.

The price of bread continued to take its place on the shelves as 15 TL in 6 months.
