Four people who were found with a total of 15 grams of cannabis-type drugs hidden in bread were arrested and detained.

The suspects EIG (28), PMM (31) and KY (29) were arrested in Gönyeli on Wednesday night

They were brought to court on Thursday on charges of “illegal possession of drugs”.

Police said they were arrested at around 8:15 PM on February 26, 2025, by a police team patrolling the Gönyeli Yenikent area when the suspect, EIG and PMM were detected acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a cafe.

Police said a total of four mini loaves of bread were found in the jacket pocket of one of the suspects, two of which were believed to contain drugs.

Police stated that after it was learned that the suspects had come to the area in a vehicle, a search was also conducted in the vehicle in the same parking lot, and that the suspect KM was also detected in the vehicle.

Police said 18 packaged mini breads were found with him. The substances believed to be cannabis-type drugs wrapped in foil paper were seized inside the breads.

Police stated that a total of 74 mini breads were found within the scope of the investigation and that narcotics were detected in 18 of them and that as a result of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects had obtained these substances from an individual named only as EPI.

The police told the court that the person in question was identified in Lefkoşa and taken to Gönyeli Police Station, and stated that the investigation had just started, that there were statements to be taken and signs to be found, and requested that the suspects be detained for one day.
