Foreigner who entered north Cyprus with a visitor’s permit arrested for working in the country without a work permit
A 45-year-old foreign national who entered north Cyprus from the south on a visors permit was arrested and detained for working while in the country without obtaining a work permit.
The suspect, James Flyanne was brought to court on Thursday February 13 on charges of violating the immigration law.
Presenting the case in court, the police stated that the suspect, who resides in South Cyprus, entered the country on February 10, 2025, with a visitor’s permit. On February 11-12, he carried out asphalt paving work on the road in front of Avunduk Dairy Products Company in Meriç Village and received 8,000 euros in payment.
The police reported that a complaint was filed on February 12, leading to the suspect’s arrest on February 13 for violating immigration laws.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was in the country on a visitor’s permit and did not have a work permit. Since the investigation was completed and the suspect had no legal status in the country, the police requested his imprisonment for up to 20 days.
