Cyprus already deported 2,056 people in 2025

Cyprus has conducted another operation to deport migrants, authorities announced on Tuesday.

In collaboration with FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Cypriot police repatriated 14 third-country nationals on 22 February 2025. The individuals departed on a joint return flight organised by Italian authorities, with Cyprus Police participation.

This marks Cyprus’s second involvement in joint FRONTEX operations in 2025. Official figures show that since the beginning of the year, 2,056 people have left the country through forced and voluntary return procedures, compared with 1,639 people during the same period last year.

Another operation coordinated by FRONTEX and German authorities, with participation from Cyprus Police, is scheduled for today. This operation aims to repatriate 10 more people.

Efforts by the police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximise the number of returns are ongoing, according to the statement.
