People smugglers paid to transport 7 individuals into south Cyprus illegally arrested in Güzelyurt, north Cyprus

Seven people who paid two drivers to help them cross into south Cyprus illegally were all arrested by Turkish Cypriot police Güzelyurt, north Cyprus.

According to information provided by the police press office, at around 8:30 PM, on January 29, 2025, an inspection was carried out by traffic teams from the Güzelyurt Police Department on two vehicles stopped in Serhatköy due to the suspicious behavior of their passengers. 

The inspection revealed an attempted illegal crossing.

It was determined that the passengers in the vehicles—identified as B.O.K. (25), B.I.O. (32), M.H.A. (42), B.E.F. (33), A.M.A. (28), E.G. (28), and F.O.N.M.I.A. (25)—had arranged with the drivers, C.K. (28) and S.C.R. (30), to illegally cross into the Southern Cyprus.

It was also found that the passengers paid the drivers a total of 1,300 Euros and 300 US Dollars for this crossing.
