Migrant delivery driver attacked and robbed in south Cyprus

An Indian migrant working as food delivery worker in south Cyprus was robbed last night by a group of locals in Limassol, in the latest of a series of attacks targeting delivery personnel.

Greek Cypriot police said three young people wearing black clothes and hoods approached the victim after he parked near a park.

One assailant held a metal object to the victim’s throat and struck him in the back with an elbow before fleeing the scene.

The other two robbers stole the victim’s wallet containing 150 euros and his mobile phones before escaping on foot eastward.

Two additional masked individuals then stole the victim’s motorcycle and fled in an unknown direction.

The delivery worker was not injured in the attack and declined medical attention, police said.

The incident comes amid growing concern over attacks on food delivery workers in Cyprus.

On Sunday, January 12, police arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with two robberies of food delivery workers in Larnaca.

Police are investigating the latest incident.
