Attempted murder in Limassol Old Port in south Cyprus shocks locals: Stabbed Syrian teen in critical condition

A violent altercation at the old port of Limassol in south Cyprus on Saturday night left three Syrian nationals injured, one of whom, an 18-year-old, is in critical condition with severe knife wounds to the chest.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as the incident unfolded in the bustling area, which was crowded with families and visitors.

A patron of a nearby establishment recounted the bloody events to local media Philenews: “We noticed a fight breaking out among a group of foreigners near the parking area. We heard shouting and, moments later, saw a crowd gathering. When we stepped outside, we found two people collapsed on the ground—one stabbed in the abdomen.”

Bystanders and staff rushed to offer first aid as they waited for an ambulance. “One of the victims was barely conscious. Friends and passersby tried to help, covering his wounds. Their hands were covered in blood, while a young woman, seemingly his girlfriend, was in shock and crying,” the witness added.
