2024 was the hottest year in north Cyprus in 49 years.

Publishing a report on last year’s data, the TRNC Meteorological Office announced that the hottest day of the year was recorded in Türkeli on June 16 with 46.8 degrees.

The Meteorology Department shared the hottest and coldest day of 2024; the highest and lowest sea water temperature; the most precipitation and the fastest wind.

Accordingly, the hottest day of 2024 was recorded in Türkeli on June 16 with 46.8 degrees and the coldest day was recorded in Lefkoşa on February 29 with -0.2 degrees.

The year 2024 was also the hottest year recorded in the 49-year period covering the years 1975 – 2024.

The highest sea water temperature was 31.5 degrees on July 20-21 in Gemikonağı, the lowest sea water temperature was 15.8 degrees on April 2 in Girne.

In 2024, Geçitkale received the most rainfall with 179.4 kg per square meter on January 30.

The fastest wind speed of 171 km per hour was measured in Serdarlı on November 24.
