Turkish man who has never been married receives shock divorce notification

A 32-year-old Turkish man who had never been married in his life was shock to receive a divorce letter from an unknown individual.

Aytuğ Arduç, 32, living in İzmir, experienced the shock of his life when he received a divorce lawsuit notice. Despite having never been married, Arduç received a summons from Adıyaman Gölbaşı 2nd Civil Court of First Instance citing a "contested divorce due to irreconcilable differences."

The bizarre notice not only baffled Arduç but also led to a heated argument with his girlfriend, who initially struggled to believe his explanation.

"I Don't Even Know Who I'm Divorcing!"

Arduç explained, “I thought about how I could explain this to my girlfriend. She was angry at first; we even argued. I told her, ‘I received a divorce notice—contested, citing irreconcilable differences!’ Eventually, she believed there was some mistake involved.”

When consulting his lawyer about the situation, Arduç discovered that the notice likely resulted from a clerical or copy-paste error by the court staff.

"I’ve never been married in my life; I’m single. When I saw this, I immediately asked my lawyer. He suggested it could be a mistake in the paperwork. I’m still in shock and have no idea what’s going on!" he added.

A Comedic Twist to Legal Errors

Arduç’s bewildering experience is a striking example of how legal clerical errors can lead to confusion—and unexpected personal drama.
