29-year-old Sri Lankan national dies after being electrocuted at a hotel in Kyrenia

A 29-year-old Sri Lankan national died on Sunday night after he was electrocuted while working at a hotel in Kyrenia. 

Lahiru Priyadarshana Perera Kumbukage, 29, was working at a hotel in Kyrenia at around 9:00pm on Sunday July 28 when he was electrocuted.

According to a police report on the matter, the unfortunate incident happened while Lahiru Priyadarshana Perera Kumbukage was cleaning with a jetwash machine.

He was electrocuted while trying to plug the cable of the jetwash machine, which did not have a socket head, into the socket of an extension cord. He died at the scene.

One person identified as M.Ş., 56 was arrested on charges of "causing death as a result of negligence and carelessness".

The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
