One of two students who were identified and arrested for living in north Cyprus without a resident permit has told police that he has AIDs.

The individuals, OA and FA were arrested by a police team at around 11:00am on Sunday, February 4, in Haspolat after they were found living in the country without a resident permit.

They were first taken to the Lefkosia district court on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and were brought back to court again on Thursday following an initial 3 days detention period ordered against them by the court.

It was determined that OA, had been living in the country without a residence permit for a total of 294 days since April 16, 2023 and FA for a total of 624 days since May 21, 2022.

Police told the court on Thursday that during their 3-day detention period, they received a verbal information that one of them was an ADIS patient though they did not receive any official documents to back up the claim and that a deportation order has been issued against him.

Police stated that an investigation would be conducted by the Immigration Department and requested that the suspects be detained for another 2 days.
