79-year-old man caught with drugs in north Cyprus

A 79-year-old man who was found to be part of a group involved in drug crime was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police.

The 79-year-old man named only as G.A., a Turkish Cypriot was identified and arrested during an operation tagged "Cane Operation" carried out by the narcotics teams in the Mormenekşe region at around 11:00am on Thursday.

Police said they found 3 kilograms of jute during a search carried out on his vehicle.

The drugs were seized and the suspect and another suspect, H.T, 43 were arrested.
