Chelsea owner contacts PSG over Kylian Mbappe transfer
Tuesday’s Paper Round leads
on Kylian Mbappe, who picks up his loyalty bonus at Paris Saint-Germain
and could therefore be on the move soon.
Chelsea are eager to sign the
France captain, while his England counterpart Harry Kane could be edging
close to Bayern Munich as the German champions prepare an £85m bid.
Brennan Johnson and Romeo Lavia also make the gossip columns.
Chelsea’s move for Mbappe
Chelsea
owner Todd Boehly has contacted Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser
Al-Khelaifi personally in a bid to sign Kylian Mbappe either permanently
or on loan, the i newspaper reports. Tuesday marks the day Mbappe will
pick up a €60m loyalty bonus at PSG, a moment which could prompt the
France forward into making a decision on his future after reportedly
turning down Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The i newspaper adds:
“Sources said Boehly has both enquired about bringing Mbappe in on loan
and on a permanent deal, even with it assumed that the 24-year-old has a
pre-contract agreement in place with Real Madrid to move to Spain next
summer. The owner’s personal involvement has alerted PSG as to the real
possibility of reaching an agreement.
“Manchester
United and Tottenham had initially been interested after it was
revealed Mbappe could even be available for a season-long loan before
the Madrid switch.”
Bayern willing to go £85m on Kane
Bayern
Munich are prepared to break their transfer record and bid £85m for
Tottenham striker Harry Kane, the Daily Mail reports. After Bayern
executives Jan-Christian Dreesen and Marco Neppe flew into London for
talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Monday, the Bundesliga
champions are still short of Spurs’ valuation for the England captain,
but are hopeful an £85m offer is enough to bring Kane to Germany despite
Levy wanting £100m.
Spurs want Johnson if Kane goes
Tottenham
could target Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson if Kane joins Bayern
Munich this transfer window, the Daily Mail reports. With Bayern looking
to agree a fee with Spurs, the latter are considering their options
should the England captain move on, and on top of Bayern's Mathys Tel
and Gent’s Gift Orban, that also includes 22-year-old Welsh forward
Johnson.
Liverpool step up Lavia chase
Liverpool
are set to make an improved offer for Southampton midfielder Romeo
Lavia, the Telegraph reports. The 19-year-old has become Liverpool’s
main focus this transfer window with Jordan Henderson and
Fabinho moving on. Liverpool saw a £34m bid rejected by the
Saints, but appear reluctant to meet the Championship side’s £50m
asking price.
