Women who cook on their periods will be reborn as dogs, Indian religious leader claims

Krushnaswarup Dasji, a member of the major Swaminarayan sect of Hindus in prime minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat, made the claims in a sermon in Bhuj. 

In the speech, which has gone viral, he reportedly also warns men they will come back as bullocks if they eat the food made by menstruating women. 

His comments come as a number of staff at a college associated with the Swaminarayan temple are accused of forcing more than 60 girls to remove their underwear to check if they were on their period.
