Electricity prices to go up in North Cyprus on April, 1.

Kib-Tek has announced price increases of between 9-18 per cent on electricity effective as of 1 April.

Peak rate tariffs will be 1.29TL per kilowatt. However, there is a new scheme giving consumers up to 35 per cent discount for using electricity in off-peak hours and for those whose maximum usage per month is 300KW.

The Association of Restaurateurs (Res-Bir) emphasised that the Turkish Cypriot Electricity Authority’s multi-tariff programme will be reflected in the prices charged by grocers and major suppliers, as traders have no option but to use the highest day-time tariffs.
