Record number injured, die in traffic accidents in TRNC

A record 1,049 people were injured and 24 died as a result of traffic accidents in the TRNC in the year 2018, according to newly-released figures from the State Planning Organisation (DPÖ). 

The casualties were from 3,744 reported accidents, which brought to 21,794 the number of crashes recorded over a six-year period since 2013.

There were 3,985 accidents that year, followed by 3,723, 3,847, 3,878 and 2,617 in 2014 to 2017 respectively.
