Wayne Rooney has admitted that his recent form for Manchester United shouldn't guarantee him a place in the England squad, according to the Daily Mirror.

Southgate to earn £500k in two months
Gareth Southgate is getting a bumper pay rise as he steps up to manage England on a caretaker basis, reports the Times. He'll get a cool half a million quid for the next two months - the equivalent of his annual salary as U21 coach.
Paper Round's view: That's a pleasant little pay heft for Southgate - and kudos to the FA for agreeing to pay him what they'd have paid Sam Allardyce instead of trying to fob him off with some cut-price offer. Now all he needs to do is justify the expenditure. Easy.
